Viral Art Gallery Introduces Game Art and Artists to the World
AMD, AIPO, US Navy and Facebook Sign On
New York, NY – August 18, 2008:
The web widget has become a major force online for delivering content to eager recipients. From Wikipedia.com – “A widget is anything that can be embedded within a page of HTML, i.e. a web page. A widget adds some content to that page that is not static. Generally widgets are third party originated, though they can be home made. Widgets are also known as modules, snippets, and plug-ins.”
Widgets come in all shapes, sizes and content offerings. Those that bring popular content, such as news feeds, image groupings and video clips are becoming common place on commercial websites that seek content. They can be easily integrated and framed within a websites existing architecture. Widgets provide content to visitors, add stickiness, and, most importantly, increase advertising impressions on pages in which widgets are framed.
As widgets have grown in popularity, so have their consumer appeal and reach. Social Networks, like Facebook.com, offer directories of Widgets that consumers can embed into their profiles and share with their friends. As can be expected, as widget awareness and popularity rises, innovation and unique content offerings are increasing. Enter the Game Art Gallery.
Graphics in video games have always been a prime motivator of consumer interest and purchase of new titles. However, the focus on game graphics routinely overshadows the building blocks of great graphics, the concept artwork and the artists behind it. The Game Art Gallery is a widget that shines a spotlight on the amateur and professional game artists that are creating the characters, landscapes, vehicles, weapons and tools that are core to game development.
To accomplish this task, the Game Art Gallery is calling all game artists to submit their work for display, enlisting the support of marketers with a vested interest in the game industry to financially support the gallery, and art and game communities to embed the widget within their websites.
In effort to incentivize all parties, the Game Art Gallery:
1. Is continually updated with new artwork
2. Involves artists and consumers through “submit your masterpiece”, user voting and prize giveaway features
3. Promotes supporting advertisers through integrated video ads and “requests for more information” (e.g. Opt Ins)
4. Increases content offerings, repeat visits and ad inventory on communities that embed the widget
At launch, the Game Art Gallery counts the Art Institutes and US Navy as premiere advertisers, AMD as a distribution partner and Facebook as an approved Social Network application host
