Dan Fogelberg’s posthumously released “Sometimes a Song” the #1 music download.
Single eclipses Grammy winners while funding prostate cancer research.

Jean Fogelberg gave the world a very special gift on Valentine’s Day. She released a song that her husband, Dan Fogelberg, gave to her on Valentine’s Day in 2005, “Sometimes a Song”. The single immediately climbed to the very top of the online charts.

“Sometimes a Song” was the #1 downloaded song on Amazon for four straight days, and is still in the top ten a week later. Dan’s song has stayed atop the iTunes folk genre since it was released and is in the top 100 songs downloaded at Wal-Mart.com.

This success is remarkable given that the single was released during Grammys’ week. “Sometimes A Song” had to compete with the annual surge in online sales of Grammy Award-winning singles and albums. Dan’s march to the top of the charts demonstrates the huge affection of his fans, and their support for prostate cancer research.

Dan Fogelberg died from prostate cancer in December of 2007. To carry on Dan’s fight against the disease, Jean made arrangements for all of her proceeds from the song’s digital sales to be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. This generous gift has been a significant factor in the success of the single. Through the release of a personal love song from Dan, Jean is providing a way for Dan’s fans to fund cutting edge prostate cancer research.

All Jean Fogelberg’s proceeds from digital sales will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

ABOUT PCF
The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) (www.prostatecancerfounation.org) is the world's largest philanthropic source of support for prostate cancer research. The PCF has a single goal: To find better treatments and a cure for recurrent prostate cancer. The PCF, a 501(c)(3) organization, pursues its mission by reaching out to individuals, corporations and others to harness society’s cesources— financial and human—to fight this deadly disease.

Founded in 1993, the PCF has raised more than $330 million and provided funding to more than 1,400 researchers at nearly 500 institutions worldwide. The PCF has been a pioneer in the grant making process, simplifying paperwork for grantees, leaving more time for researchers to conduct needed scientific research. The PCF also advocates for greater awareness of prostate cancer and more governmental resources, resulting in a 20-fold increase in government funding for prostate cancer over the past decade.  Since the founding of PCF in 1993 the death rate from prostate cancer has declined by 50%.  Like Dan, unfortunately, 27,000 US men are projected to die from prostate cancer in 2008 making it still the second most common cause of death in men.
